We Like to Stay Open
There are many tools out there and people choose to use only a few. There is no reason to limit anyone or to impose anything. That's way to want FlairBuilder to work as nicely as possible with the other tools and whatever technology people use. Here are some of the coming really, really soon options in FlairBuilder.Import from Balsamiq Mockups
Update: This feature is now in Beta. Try it out and let me know what you think. The components set from Balsamiq Mockups does not match 100% with FlairBuilder, so there are some inherent incompatibilities. But you should be able to get started faster.Balsamiq Mockups is a simple yet tremendously useful and popular piece of software. It actually opened up the gates of wireframing and basic prototyping to a whole range of software professionals that were not necessarily comfortable with more advanced wireframing tools. Chances are that you already have whole bunch of mockups done with Balsamiq Mockups. Or even you just happen to receive one from a client, you'll want to make it more interactive, add some real flavor to it. Well, FlairBuilder will let you do just that. You'll be able to capture more details and requirements so no one will have to guess or imagine anything.
Export to HTML
While this is a tough thing to do, we'll do it. FlairBuilder desktop viewer is a great way for your clients to see your work and get a close feeling of how the final product will be. However, no everyone is willing to install something on their computer and since they already have a browser, why not offering them the chance to see the prototypes in the browser? Besides, when HTML is actually the targeted technology for your ongoing project it will be better for the prototype to taste like... you know, HTML. :-)Export to Adobe Flex
FlairBuilder is actually built in Adobe Flex, so this seem to be most natural option when speaking about code export. However, FlairBuilder is also trying to be technology agnostic so besides HTML and Adobe Flex we will also want to support other RIA technologies.iPhone Prototyping
Update: This feature is now out and I'm pretty happy about it. Check out the release announcement. We already have been asked for this for several times and this is something we are strongly determined to accomplish. It will not be done over night, but we believe FlairBuilder already has a strong foundation and getting there might just be easier for us. We'll keep you posted.
